Multi Channel setup |
So far we have described a stereo configuration, but many of us are us are using multiple speakers/channels with our Hauptwerk setup. Using multiple channels with a convolution reverb lets you recreate a three dimensional space. If you've succeeded with the stereo configuration, you will easily be able to create a project setup for multiple channels with multiple instances of Pristine Space. I won't go too deeply into the details since I'm assuming that you're already familiar with Hauptwerk's multi-channel configuration. Preparing Hauptwerk In hauptwerk I added a channel, REVERB910, in the Audio Outputs screen and assigned VST9 and VST10 as output (you can choose whatever you want as long as you remember which VST channels you assigned). In the routing TAB make sure to change the OUTPUT Type to "AUX MIX-DOWN..."
For each audio channel that you have, go to the ROUTING TAB and change the AUX SEND 1 DESTINATION to the reverb channel you just created.
The REVERB910 channel is a mix of all our channels (this channel can be used to record the entire organ). What we will do is use this MIX and send it to our L-R Front channels, Center Front channel and to the L-R Rear channels. In Sonar you must create as many AUDIO TRACKS as you have channels and have the correct inputs and outputs assigned
The following drawing illustrates the links between Hauptwerk, Sonar, Pristine Space and the speakers.
In this example I used 3 instances of Pristine Space
As I said earlier, there are many ways to mix the impulses, change their volume, add delay etc. This can potentially simulate many different environments. To each their own.... now go and explore the many possibilities offered by these technologies! |
