Setting up Sonar 7 |
|||||
If you carefully read and follow these instructions, you will be able to enjoy the results of the combination of Hauptwerk, Sonar, and Pristine Space quickly and easily. If you get into a bind, re-read and try again. Don't re-install your OS, audio drivers or any other software unless you are advised to do so by an expert. | ||||||
Once Sonar is installed (along with all the other required software), you will need to configure the global and audio options within Sonar. For this quick tutorial, we will setup the audio using WDM drivers (more universal); however, the ASIO setup is more-or-less the same. When Sonar runs for the first time, it will run the "Wave Profiler" to learn the capabilities of your audio card. It can take a few minutes, and might even seem to run in a loop. Be patient, Sonar is trying all the sample sizes and buffer sizes possible to determine which ones are supported by your audio card. Global Options When Sonar is done, create a new project and give it a name. Once in Sonar, click OPTIONS - GLOBAL. On the GENERAL tab, make sure that "Always echo..." is NOT ticked. . On the VST Plug-Ins tab, add the folder where Hauptwerk VSTi is (usually c:\program files\Crumhorn-labs Hauptwerk VSTi plug-in) and where Voxengo Pristine Space is (usuallly c:\program files (X86)\Steinberg). Click the "Scan VST Folders" button before clicking OK. Audio options Click OPTIONS | AUDIO, and set the parameters as follows:
In the advanced tab, make sure that "use multiprocessing engine" is NOT ticked. This is where you would change the driver mode to use ASIO. But for the moment, that's it! Click OK, you're done.
